Apollo 1 50th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony

Apollo 1 50th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony at Launch Complex 34. 

January 27th marked the 50th anniversary of the terrible Apollo 1 event that took three brave astronauts lives, Lt. Col. Virgil I. Grissom, a veteran of Mercury and Gemini missions; Lt. Col. Edward H. White, the astronaut who had performed the first United States extravehicular activity during the Gemini program; and Navy Lt. Cdr. Roger B. Chaffee, an astronaut preparing for his first space flight, died in this tragic accident.

The 45th Space Wing of the U.S. Air Force held the memorial event at Space Launch Complex 34 at 6:05pm, which is about the same time when the fatal indecent happened 50 years ago. As people gathered for the ceremony I took a time lapse 360 degree VR video which you can view in 4k below.
