The New Symrna Sugar Mill Ruins is also referred to as the Cruger and DePeyster Sugar Mill and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places August 12th 1970.
In the 1830’s the mill was erected out of coquina rock quarried near by and consisted of a Sugar Mill and Saw Mill. Several years in December 1835 the mills and surrounding buildings on the property we destroyed and burned down by the Seminole Indians after running off the overseer . The ruins are now located at 600 Mission Rd in New Symrna Beach in Volusia County.
